Doxxing in a Google Review: How to Get It Removed
A review that names your staff, lists a phone number, or describes where your business owner lives is not a review — it is a doxxing incident. And Google has one of the clearest, fastest removal paths for this category.
What qualifies as doxxing under Google’s policy
Google’s Personal Information clause prohibits reviews that contain:
- Full names of employees who are not public-facing representatives
- Phone numbers, home addresses, or personal email addresses
- Vehicle details, license plates, or physical descriptions of individuals
- Medical, financial, or identity information about any person
Unlike other categories, doxxing removals often happen within 24 to 72 hours. Google takes personal safety seriously.
The evidence pack
- A screenshot of the review with the personal information highlighted
- A one-line statement: “This review contains [phone number / home address / staff member’s full name] of a person who has not given consent for this information to be published.”
- If the information is about an employee, a statement from the employee asking for the review to be removed
The submission
This review violates Google’s Personal Information clause under Prohibited Content. The review contains [specific personal information — e.g. full name and home address] of a person who has not consented to publication. This represents a safety risk. We request immediate removal.
If the review is about the business owner
You can still submit the removal even if the information names you, the owner. Google does not require the complaint to come from the exposed person — any business-profile-owner can report a Personal Information violation.
Beyond Google
